Rides & Events calendar

The RSF admin team must also point out that rides designated as members rides are precisely that, rides organised by a member and advertised here in case other members may wish to join them. We also request that all members putting a ride on add their name to the RSF ride leaders list to be covered under our insurance which you can read here. Adding your name is as simple as emailing the secretary and requesting your name be added to our ride leaders list.
A Macclesfield Forest ride, don’t worry it won’t be all trees.

STOP PRESS, I have moved this ride to the Thursday, the following day. Because the weather might be better ! and more importantly The Peak View Tea Rooms will be open. I have just spoken with them and the snow is still thickish today, Sunday 12th.
So the ride is now Thursday 23rd Jan 2025, 10.00 AM, watch this space for any further updates.
Meet in Trentabank Reservoir Car Park at 9.30 AM for a 10.00 AM departure.
NGR 396127,371092, Nearest Post Code is:- SK11 0NS.
About 15 miles (unless we go further !) and approx 2500 ft of ascent and maybe some rough bits. So I will call it a Grade 2 ride. See the RSJ for Grade details.

The route may be changed on the day, dependant on who attends and of course, the weather.
When I last looked the car park was £4.00 for 4 hrs and £4.75 for the day, yes indeed !
It is a RingGo App Car Park (Location 51726) but the machine was only taking cash, no card payment, when I last looked.
Disabled Spaces, if free, are free with a blue badge. I don't think that there is a height restriction at the car park.
If you are early and lucky there may be free parking places on the road by Ridgegate Reservoir.
Depending on who joins the ride, we may just head UP to The Peak View Tea Rooms for lunch and do a ‘leisurely’ descent with ‘variations’ back down (Ok and up) possibly via Charity Lane and Forest Chapel.
But you might want to bring your own lunch, and a flask etc, as we may change the route, if the weather is good. However my alternate route (which could become the only route) could include the Cumberland Cottage Track (a bit rough) and Three Shires Head (some of this can also be rough) If you fancy a swim in Panniers Pool at TSH, bring your own costume a towel and perhaps a heater !
But if we do choose this route, it could take us a good bit longer and we might not get to a suitable place to stop with shelter until perhaps 1.30 or 2.00. This shelter is The Rose & Crown Pub at Allgreave. This might be a little upmarket on the Tea Rooms. It’s a while since I was last in.
Be sensible and bring a well maintained cycle with working brakes, your lights and water proofs. I hope not to require the last two but you never know, it will be January.
