The aim of the ride was to visit the new Urban Bike Park located in Middleton Park in Leeds, using off road tracks as much as possible.

Four riders set off from Farnley Hall in a southernly direction towards Low Moor Side, then heading towards Gelderd Rd. and across to Churwell,  Daisy Hill.

Crossing the railway line on a modern footbridge that allowed Bob to demonstrate his `stairway to heaven` cycling skills, (Click here to view video) skirting the White Rose Centre to drop down to cross the A653  dual-carriageway,  to use a bridleway through woods up to Middleton Park  where the  Leeds Urban Bike Park is located.

We had lunch at the on-site cafe whilst watching kids, and indeed adults,  enjoying the pump tracks and BMX facilities. I don`t think Sol was too enamoured by the pump tracks but he gave the blue route a go! We did not have time to find the red graded cross-country route within the park. Perhaps next time?

There was insufficient time to do my fairly long route back to base, so (as Bob knows Leeds well) we used a combination of signposted  cycle routes towards the city centre, to join the Leeds-Liverpool canal near the Royal Armouries. Using the canal to come off at Upper Armley to climb up to Farnley  Hall and the ride end.

An enjoyable day out in dry , sunny, in part, weather. About seven miles to the Park and 17 miles overall,  not counting the riding in the bike park.

Thanks to Bob for the route back. And newbie local John for his knowledge of Leeds City Centre.
