Head west from Reeth along B6270, turn right at Feetham and follow the minor road north to Scar Wood. Along the road north, leaving it at Whaw turning left and follow the metaled road over the moors, passing derelict mines, the road turns into a heathery path, strenuous in wet weather, real rough-stuff! Keep going slightly north-west, eventually ending at a sort of T-junction with the road leading right towards the major road to Tann Hill. But at this junction try to go straight on (difficult to find the track) and go to Tan Hill over the moor. Not for the faint-hearted!! Have a good meal at the inn and continue south along the Pennine Way and other paths/tracks, eventually ending up at Gunnerside. Alternatively (e.g. after too much food/beer) just take the main parallel road via Keld to Thwaite and Muker. Full circle to Feetham: 36 km. Enjoy! |
