28 Miles / 45 Km mostly utilising bridleways and byways as well as permissive routes in Thoresby Park and Clumber Park. Suggest starting at the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre (Edwinstowe) or Creswell Craggs Visitor (Creswell Crags is a limestone gorge containing several caves occupied during the last ice age. The caves contain the northernmost pre-historic art in Europe!). The route includes a 'spur' to Thoresby Hall and Military Museum. You could save about 3 miles by cutting this out. Mostly decent surfaces. Refreshments at Edwinstowe/Thoresby and Creswell. WARNING - Don't be tempted to cycle through the ford at Hardwick Village, the bed is VERY slippy! |
