A terrific route devised by John Eaton for one of our NPSP Group rides exploring the hills to the north and south of the Holme Valley starting at the really handy car park at Digley reservoir - SE 111 072.
Great Bridleways to begin with, Harden Moss Road, Magdalen Road, Springs Road and Nether Lane. A long grinding climb up White Gate Road to Ellentree Brow rewarded by a terrific downhill, past Hades to cross Hades Clough and then on down Cartworth Moor Road which becomes a rough track to eventually reach Holmfirth. The return to Digley reservoir can simply be along the road but John took us up again through Upperthong just so we could freewheel back to the start! |
