A great ride from Rochdale's hidden gem of a country park, Healey Dell, up over the moors to the north west of Rochdale then descending along the Cheesden Valley through Birtle, crossing the Roch in a deep gorge and on to Heywood. A rural ride that is never more than a few miles from Rochdale, Bury or Heywood but seems a million miles away!
The return is more urban following the canal towards the south east of Rochdale then ascending through Rochdale and along the former railway line which served Whitworth and Healey Dell when it was a hive of industry rather than a peaceful retreat from the urban hustle and bustle! |
