A good route for a rainy day. After going "over the top" at Scouthead you quickly find shelter in the Medlock Valley, skirting Oldham on a lovely linear country park all the way to Daisy Nook for lunch! The return makes extensive use of the former railway line that ran from Ashton-under-Lyne to Oldham and then up to Delph. Unfortunately the blocked tunnel at Grotton means you have to pick your way through Mossley back to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and back to Uppermill. |
