RSF - The Off Road Cycling Club

Yes, is is possible to cycle from Manchester to London or vice versa through the centre of Birmingham almost entirely off-road.  It's a good 3-4 day trip based mainly on canal towpaths but using alternatives where possible as I can assure you Canal Towpath Fatigue can set in. 

When I did it, I used Warm Showers Hosts but I suspect you could probable camp at a canal marina which generally has toilets, showers and fresh water. You'll need to phone in advance to check. I was also surprised by some regional culinary delights. Staffordshire Oatcakes and battered chips in Wolverhampton. Plus there are of course plenty of canalside watering holes.
