This is a superb varied 30 mile circuit from Astbury Mere at Congleton. Quiet lanes , idyllic bridleways at Swettenham then lanes and a bridleway to an excellent lunch stop at The Rising Sun at Scholar Green. Afterwards an ascent to Mow Cop either by a longer circuitous way or by the short vicious direct ascent ( & I do mean vicious). Finally a plunge tp Biddulph and a five mile gradual descent on the Biddulph Valley Way, with a last mile of bridleeway back to the Mere. One of my favourite routes which I try to do once a year.
