Leeds Liverpool canal, River Darwen Greenway, up to Sunnyhurst and picking up the West Pennine Moor Loop skirting the hillside through Bold Venture and to Bullhill, a loop round the cemetery before a spot of on-road to get back to the WPML (it's still in development). Up to Hoddleston, down a bumpy bridleway to Waterside then past the reservoir on a muddy track up to Belthorn. A quick descent back to Blackburn on road and dual use path past the hospital, then residential streets back to the canal. 20 miles, 2500ft of up. Refreshment stops available at J4 services, Sunnyhurst pub, Dog Inn at Belthorn, services near the hospital. |
