CRAGGANMORE, Glenlivet and Glenfiddich are the names of three fine single malt whiskies. They could also be an outline description of this 45 mile route that includes two substantial and contrasting off-road sections.
IT DIDN’T START WELL.  The signpost read 'Forres 23 miles’ but it wasn’t clear which way it was pointing. It pointed towards two paths and we took the wrong one.
Beyond the bridge I came across a bench and a cracking view of the surrounding Craven district scenery, ‘Superb butty spot, methinks’, I thought to myself. So I fished out my cheese and onion butty, rooted out my gas stove and put a pot of water on, for a sachet of coffee.
Just seeing other cyclists lifted my spirits and contributed to me picking up the pace in that final difficult section.
So next we cycled to Roa Island with the intention of catching the ferry to Piel and having a pint in the one pub on the Island.
The road brings you to St Bartolome where you will find a good quantity of cyclists hovering round the cake shop. The cafe in the main square is a good stop for lunch, and we recommend the potaje over the spag bol.
