Magic Cycle-ing !

We don’t often, I believe get asked to do book reviews.
And in view of the difficulty we sometimes find in filling posts, I am not going to be proposing a Book Reviewer position but ….
I just picked me, this time and offered.
It is all voluntary, and if you have read an ‘appropriate’ book and think that we all might benefit and get enjoyment from it, have a bash and send a review to Henk.
If you have read an inappropriate book, don’t do a review of it on here, just tell me ! nudge nudge.
Some of our membership will know of Jim McGurn, and some may have had the pleasure and met him.
His latest book, Cycle Magic is about guess what ?
It is not a book of spells to maintain your bike but …… ?
It doesn’t offer or push any particular cycle or style of cycling but ….. ?
As the press release says “a diverse appreciation of cycling and cycles, covering virtually every aspect” Yes that does put it in a nut shell.
It is a veritable cornucopia of cycling. And I have not read all the 381 pages yet.
There is plenty in it, with lots of colour pictures, over an 1000, and it overflows with articles about cycling from all over and all time.
With contributions from many writers, photographers and illustrators.
Is this horn of plenty, overflowing too much ?
Cycle Magic Part 2 The Sequel ? No pressure Jim.
Possibly this is a book for Autumn or Winter nights (Oh that is timely) or maybe for anytime.
You can pick it up read and enjoy it a bit or a lot, carry on or come back to it later.
Read what others have done and are doing, then dream of what you could do.
A cyclist can apparently ride three and a half miles on the calories in an ‘ear’ of corn, I think that may mean a corn cob.
It doesn’t say how much butter that is with though.
We all think Cycle-ing is Magic, don’t we ?
The bicycle, The perfect machine, that gives so much and takes so little.
How much did that last bike, repair or service cost ?
